Mama's Been Busy

Whew! Spring really invigorates me and I feel so energetic and ambitious. I guess that's how spring cleaning came to be so common.  I have been spring cleaning, moving slowly and methodically from one room to the next, trying to be very thorough. I get a little farther through the house each week. Of course, spring means gardening, too, and I am really loving mine! I think my pets also have spring fever. They all seem to have more energy, more appetite, and more desire to get outdoors. My oldest cat never goes more than about 2 feet out the door, but she doesn't go through the door at all in the winter. Actually, she barely moves, but she does move more in the warmer months. Haha. Here she is doing what she typically does....

Sometimes I take it too far and I don't really feel it until it's too late and I'm exhausted. Do you do that? Today is one of those times. I worked 5 1/2 hours, cleaned house, helped my daughter with her school work, researched how to cook kale, went to the grocery store, cooked a big dinner, and now I am blogging. Don't you feel tired just reading that sentence? Like I said, whew! Somewhere in there I managed to bandage boo-boos after my daughter took a big fall on the sidewalk, pull some weeds in the garden, talk to my mom on the phone for a bit, and go for a 3/4 mile walk as a family.
Even though I now feel really tired, I also feel very proud to have accomplished so much with my day. I'm also thankful to be able to do all of these things. And the good news? I should sleep really well tonight! Hope you do, too. Good night!

  1. I get like that when my granddaughter is here, I forget that I am old! But by the time dinner rolls around my body has certainly reminded me. It is all worth it though.

  2. I so sympathize. There's a lot of work here on the farm. Hubby has been working nights at his job, so I've been picking up his feeding chores. Add that to what I do every day anyway, and it makes for a very long day!

  4. It feels really good to get things done...but then you realize all that you did and you are ready for a break, but that doesn't always happen!

  7. I am in the middle of spring cleaner, got a late start, and let me tell you at the end of the day my body lets me know just how old I am...lol.

  8. That's exactly what I mean. When I feel all young and energetic, I pay for it later when my body reminds that I am not young. Haha.

  10. I do that all the time! Having two little ones under two, I can't get much house work done when they are awake...always intend on doing it when they go to bed but I am exhausted by then because at that point I've already done way too much (with the little ones)! LOL

  11. I'm usually pretty good about getting to bed on time because my daughter and I are both morning people, and I have trouble sleeping off and on, so I know if I don't get to bed early, the next day is gonna be a disaster. I do love going through a mental list of all I've accomplished in a day! It's a great feeling.

  12. I know exactly what you mean. It's tough for me to find a balance between feeling like I accomplished a lot of work in the house and also spent enough quality time with each of my kids and the dogs. Honestly, I usually end my day feeling like it wasn't enough but I've realized that I feel better about the day if the balance was more towards the quality time and less about the house being clean. So I'm content to have my house not perfect if it means more time and memories being made with the kids and dogs :)

  13. I always look forward to Spring because of all the gardening work outdoors until I remember how much work it is! lol, but it is very rewarding! Wish I could bottle up my children's energy...

  14. Like they say, a body in motion tends to stay in motion. If I can just get my booty up and moving, you can't stop me!

    1. I actually had a conversation about that the other day! If I can just get off the couch and get started, I am unstoppable. But first I gotta get off the couch!
